KUKRI SPORTS ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH RUGBY SCHOOL

December 3, 2019 | |

Kukri Sports are proud to announce a new three-year partnership with Rugby School as its official sports kit supplier. The first branded shirts will be worn on 4th December when the School’s 1st XV play in the RFU National Schools Final.

The School, where the game of rugby was invented, and Kukri, who were initially inspired by the Flying Kukris rugby team, are the perfect match.

Both strive for quality, diversity, professionalism and teamwork, and share equal passion for the game created at Rugby School in 1823 when pupil William Webb-Ellis first caught the ball and ran with it on the now world-famous Close.

Rugby School’s Director of Sport, Debbie Skene, said:

‘’It was Kukri’s ability to create bespoke kits that truly reflect the individuality and vision of each team sport that helped them to win the contract.

We are experiencing a successful run of sporting achievements and it’s incredibly important to us that our kit promotes both our overall team ethos and individuality, while using materials tested on some of the UK’s elite athletes.

We will be working closely with Kukri to create a contemporary and bespoke look for all our students, who will be wearing unique designs for each sport while sharing a unified look when traveling and training.”

Chris Marshall, GB & European Sales Director at Kukri said:

“Kukri Sports are very proud to be entering a partnership with Rugby School, a leading British institution whose heritage and prestige is world-renowned, particularly as the birthplace of the sport it lends its name to.

Rugby as a sport has formed a significant part of our history, however the multisport provision across the school creates a real synergy with our direction as a sportswear brand. Facilitating access to a multitude of sports, particularly encouraging female participation, means Rugby School are strongly aligned with our vision to inspire each individuals sporting journey and the legacy of our time in sport that teamwear creates. We now have a fantastic opportunity to showcase our shared values around continuing to develop physical activity at the school.

Our product is designed to meet the needs of young athletes, with the range as comfortable and practical off the field as it is high performance on it. Rugby School continue to develop one of the leading sports programmes in the country and we intend to make a real statement together.

There is certainly no better time to begin the partnership than in celebrating their success on the rugby field by reaching the Champions Trophy Final at Allianz park.”

As part of the contract, Kukri will be supporting Rugby Schools’ Arnold Foundation programme, which provides free boarding places, as well as sponsoring all the 1st teams.
